Packing Tips

What to Wear

  • Opt for neutral colors (e.g., khaki) to avoid disturbing animals or attracting insects.

  • Pack layers to adjust to fluctuating temperatures. Recommended items include:

    • Light base layers (Merino wool or synthetic blends)

    • Long-sleeve shirts, T-shirts, and khaki pants or jeans

    • A fleece or hoodie for cooler mornings and evenings

  • T-shirts are ideal for midday warmth.

  • Comfortable tennis shoes are ideal. You’ll remove them often when standing on the seats for better wildlife views.

Accessories to Bring

  • Day Pack: For snacks, water, and rain gear.

  • Main Pack: To store your larger items.

  • Wide-Brim Hat: For sun protection.

  • Sunglasses: Bring cleaning spray and wipes for dust.

  • Electrolytes: For hydration during hot days.

  • Sunscreen & SPF Lip Balm: The equatorial sun is strong.

  • Swimsuit: For hotel pools.

  • Bug Spray/Insect Repellent: DEET or Picaridin recommended.

  • Camera: Preferably something better than a smartphone, if available.

  • Extra Batteries/Charging Packs: Safari vehicles have USB ports and outlets at each seat.

  • Ear Plugs & Sleep Mask: For better rest.

  • Personal Toiletries & Medication:

    • Prescription medication.

    • Imodium (loperamide) for digestive issues.

    • Pain relievers like aspirin, acetaminophen, or ibuprofen.

    • Toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, and sanitary products.

    • Bandages and antibiotic ointment.

  • Binoculars: For spotting wildlife.

  • Flashlight: Provided in your lodge rooms, but useful for other situations.
